Peer Support Workers have lived experiences of mental health issues and they use these experiences to support people with Severe Mental Illness (SMI) who are at a different stages in their recovery. Through providing encouragement with compassion and using empathy, the Peer Support Workers support people with SMI to work towards their goals.

At Sheffield Mind, we host a Peer Support Coordinator and 2 Peer Support workers. There are 15 Peer Support Workers, based around the Primary Care Networks across the city. These posts are part of the Primary & Community Mental Health Transformation Programme (PCMH).
