Services Counselling and Therapy Services General Counselling (Talking Therapy) General Counselling Service at Sheffield Mind Our general Counselling Service offers free short-term counselling to adults in Sheffield. The service is delivered by student volunteer therapists, on placement with us at Sheffield Mind. Referral information Access to the online referral form opens at 9:00am on the first working Monday of the month and is available on that day only. Please ensure your referral is completed and submitted while the form is available. Once capacity is reached, access to the form will close – please note, this may happen within a short time frame. We accept both self-referrals and professional referrals, following the same form and process. Referral Form Please note that we only accept a limited number of referrals each month, to help manage waiting times. Due to high demand, we are not always able to open for new referrals each month. Who can access this service? Adults ages 18 and over who meet the following criteria: Live in Sheffield Are registered to a Sheffield GP Have not accessed a Sheffield Mind therapy service within the past 6 months. Session Information General counselling provides a safe, confidential space to explore personal challenges and emotional wellbeing. It offers an opportunity to reflect on your experiences, understand yourself better and find ways to manage difficulties with the support of a therapist. Following a successful referral and assessment, you will be allocated to one of our student placement therapists for 6 weeks of talking therapy. Sessions take place at our Wellbeing Centre in Sharrow Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm with limited evening availability.
