Hello I'm Lizzie and I am going to be working on promotion and business development during my placement.

Any apprehension I felt on my first day volunteering with Sheffield Mind was immediately relieved when I was greeted by a smiling member of staff. I noticed that this was a common theme here- the warmth and passion of staff and volunteers.

I am a student at the University of Sheffield and when I decided I wanted to work with a local charity to make differences to the lives of people in Sheffield, I thought of Sheffield Mind. So far, I am enjoying the opportunities to organise and help run fundraisers, but there are many other activities to get involved in here too. I think volunteering compliments my degree nicely, providing me a space to develop skills and belong to a community of people working hard to help others.

If you’re considering volunteering, I cannot recommend Sheffield Mind enough!
