I have been working for Sheffield Mind now for 6 months starting in November 2023. Since joining it has been very apparent that the staff here are very supportive and are always trying to make changes to champion diversity and create an inclusive workplace.

It is comforting to hear that Sheffield Mind are aiming to gain accreditation for being a menopause friendly employer. As this is something that impacts all women at some stage in their life.

Being a young woman, menopause is something I know is going to impact me in the future, while it is not something I am always consciously thinking of, it is nice to know that my workplace and colleagues are bringing awareness to the impacts of menopause and continuing to make positive changes. Most importantly, listening to the needs of their staff such as adding in quiet spaces, fans, hygiene products to make women’s working environment more comfortable and safer.

Menopause should never be a taboo subject, neither should its impacts on a woman’s life be dismissed. I hope that by Sheffield Mind gaining this accreditation myself and staff can learn more and gain a better understanding of the symptoms of menopause and what we all can do to promote an equal and positive working environment for all.
