GB Boxing Coaches Take On 50-Round Charity Challenge Two of GB Boxing’s coaches, Gary Hale (Podium Coach) and Mally Maciver (Performance Coach) will lead a special ‘Box-a-Thon’ fundraiser on Wednesday 26th November 2025 when they aim to complete 50 three-minute rounds on the boxing bag to raise money for their charity partners Roundabout and Sheffield Mind. Hale and Maciver will be joined by a host of special guests, including Tokyo Olympic gold medallists, Lauren Price and Galal Yafai, Olympic bronze medallist and current GB Boxing consultant coach Richie Woodhall, members of the current GB Boxing squad, and service users from both charities who will all be taking a turn on the bags. The Box-a-Thon is being organised to raise funds and awareness for the chosen charities, which have been GB Boxing’s community partners since August 2024.In addition to raising funds, GB Boxing have been very closely involved in the delivery of our Active Minds project which you can read about here. Gary Hale said: “We wanted to do something that would not only test us physically but also bring the GB Boxing and local community together for two amazing causes. Roundabout and Sheffield Mind do incredible work supporting people in difficult circumstances, and we’re proud to be doing our bit to help. Fifty rounds is not a small challenge, but it’s nothing compared to what some people face in their daily lives. We’re hoping to raise as much money as possible and show that the boxing community always steps up to support those in need.” The box-a-thon will begin in the afternoon, with Gary and Malcolm leading the way with guest participants rotating throughout the 50 rounds to keep the action going from the first bell to the last. We very much hope to be there on the day to encourage, support and maybe gave a go ourselves - well it would be rude not to - as we know how tough a challenge this is. having said that we have seen the team in action and are confident that they will smash it! We are incredibly grateful to all the team at GB Boxing and are delighted that they have taken on this challenge in support of our work with young adults and thrilled to be sharing in the event with our very good friends at Roundabout, its a truly knock out partnership!
