I joined Sheffield Mind recently and noticed how they emphasise equality and diversity in the workplace and pride themselves on being an inclusive organisation.

Soon after joining, I learned that Sheffield Mind was aiming to gain accreditation for being a menopause friendly employer. Having next to no knowledge of menopause, I decided this was a good opportunity to enhance my understanding and learn to appreciate what it means to go through menopause and the challenges women face during this time.

I quickly learned that menopause is not a quick and simple process, and that symptoms can last for months or even years. I have found that even simple changes, such as a quiet room, can make the workplace a more comfortable place for people suffering symptoms.

Having increased my knowledge and understanding of menopause, I can confidently say that Sheffield Mind is doing what is necessary in promoting a safe and equal working environment for all.
