I have had a late menopause, but I don’t think I’m unique, so I’m writing this as a plea – don’t assume that women in their late 50s and early 60s are necessarily past the menopause.

The age where most women become menopausal is between 50 and 54 years, but around 5% of women will have a later menopause. That may not seem like a lot, but when you think about all the women in the workforce, there are probably quiet a few of us!

When I did become menopausal, I didn’t think I was having any particular symptoms, other than the occasional hot flush at night, but over time I came to realise that the flushes were interfering with my sleep and I was gradually becoming more and more tired.

So, now, I’m on HRT and I sleep like a baby!
