Sundown Stars Out, organised by local musician and University of Sheffield music student Cleo, has raised £216 for Sheffield Mind, uniting a vibrant cross‑section of performers from across the city’s music scene.

Held at the Abbeydale Ballroom — a venue generously provided by True North Brew Co — the evening showcased an eclectic mix of local talent. Sets came from bands and artists including Meridian, Geb, Laptop Repair Shop, Marian Mills, Sundial, Gillian Chen, Scarlett Kirwan, and The Only Normal People. Marian Mills performed a fully original set, while Gillian Chen drew particular praise for her distinctive vocal timbre.

Cleo described the atmosphere as “intimate,” noting how the event brought together both University of Sheffield music students and independent artists. Several performers were connected through Octagon Records — a student‑run label known for hosting regular live events at Bar One.

The night was supported by a range of Sheffield organisations. True North Brew Co continued its track record of community‑focused initiatives, building on previous collaborations with Sheffield Mind such as the Sheffield Half Pint Marathon. The University of Sheffield also contributed equipment, including microphones, helping the event run smoothly.

All proceeds will be invested in the mental health services we deliver across the city, supporting counselling, wellbeing programmes and wider community mental health initiatives.
